MONROE COUNTY EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER | Monroe County, FL
It’s great to see the Monroe County Emergency Operations Center coming to life. K2M Design in association with ADG is providing architecture and interior design services for a new, state-of-the-art facility located adjacent to the Marathon Airport in the heart of the Florida Keys. The structure is designed to withstand a “500-year event” — elevated well above potential flood, built to withstand 220 MPH winds and FEMA P-361 missile impact criteria. The EOC will provide self-sustaining support for up to 150 people for 72 hours during an event including power, food, water and communications and will also house the 9-1-1 dispatch center and Emergency Management staff year-round. The EOC should be fully operational for the 2024 hurricane season.
